Activate your product license key
All theme and plugin purchases include a single license key, registered to the customer who purchased the theme. Your license key is included in the email purchase receipt. You must activate your license key in order to receive any theme and/or plugin updates. Once activated, these update notifications will appear directly in your WordPress dashboard, usually as an orange numeric notification under the Dashboard > Updates tab.
Read on for how to activate product licenses.
FROM YOUR MY ACCOUNT SETTINGS (RECOMMENDED)
1. Head to your My Account area at empressthemes.com by going to empressthemes.com/account. You’ll be prompted to login.
2. Once you’re logged in, click on the License Keys tab.
3. Look for the product whose license key you are trying to activate. In the example above, we’re activating a license for the Rania theme. Click Manage Sites.
4. In the screen that loads, add your site URL into the field provided. Then, click Add Site. That’s it! Your purchase has now been licensed to your site, and you will receive product updates to your WordPress dashboard.
FROM YOUR WORDPRESS DASHBOARD
(Barton, Pearl and Hayes themes only — for all other themes, continue on below)
1. From your WordPress Dashboard, look for the EmPress tab—it has our logo next to it! Click on the tab to access our Welcome area.
2. From there, simply paste in your license key into the field provided, then hit Save Changes. Your license key may be found in your original purchase receipt email.
That's it! While you're here, be sure to check out our handy quick links to various Help Desk articles on the right.
FROM YOUR WORDPRESS DASHBOARD
(Rania, Presidio, Miramar, Brevier, and Archer themes only)
1. From your WordPress Dashboard, navigate to Appearance > Theme Name: Getting Started. Older versions of our themes may navigate to the license activation page by going to Appearance > Theme License.
2. In the License Key field, enter the string of letters and numbers sent to you in your original purchase receipt, which correspond to the theme license key. Click Save Changes.
3. Hooray! Your theme license key has now been activated, and you should receive update notifications via your WordPress dashboard.
Now, when new updates are available for your theme, you will see a notification here. Note that this main Updates tab may also include update prompts for plugins or old themes that you no longer have in use.
