Enabling sticky/scroll navigation menus

All <em>press themes come pre-loaded with a scrolling navigation menu. Our scrolling navs are programmed to fade or slide in from the top of the browser window once the user begins moving, or scrolling, down the page.

Scrolling menus are naturally set to activate when you activate your theme, so you should see it on your live website once you begin scrolling down the page. If you don’t, here are a few troubleshooting tips:

ENSURE THE SCROLLING NAVIGATION OPTION IS TURNED ON.

1. In your WordPress dashboard, hover over the Appearance menu tab, then select Customize.

2. For Rania, Presidio, Miramar, Brevier, and Archer users, click on the Additional Menu Options tab within the Customizer, as shown below:

For Pearl and Hayes theme users, navigate to Header Options > Scroll Navigation from the Customizer.

3. In the screen that loads, find the check box that reads Enable scroll navigation. Ensure it is checked; this is what will trigger your scrolling navigation menu to appear on the site. Once you have finished editing this and any other changes you wish to make to the theme, hit Save & Publish.

ENSURE MENUS ARE PROPERLY SET UP.

Scrolling navigation menus are set up to mirror the Primary (often the “category”) menu on your website. If you have not yet set up your Primary or social media links, nothing will appear in your scrolling navigation menu.

To set up your Primary menu:

1. In your WordPress dashboard, hover over the Appearance menu tab, then select Customize.

2. Click on the Menus tab in the Customizer.

3. If you have not yet created a menu, click on Add a Menu. Name the menu something that makes sense for the content menu you wish to create, like “Categories.” Click on Create Menu.

4. Next, add items to the menu, by clicking the Add Items button. An additional window will fly out to the right, allowing you to select which categories, posts, pages, or links you wish to feature in this menu. You can drag and drop items to reorder them within the menu.

5. Finally, assign a display location. If you’d like to assign this menu as the same that will appear in your scrolling navigation, select Primary. Don’t forget that the Primary menu will always mirror the menu in the scrolling navigation menu. Once you have finished editing this and any other changes you wish to make to the theme, hit Save & Publish.
