Enabling Rich Pins on your site

Pinterest uses meta data from the code of your site to generate the information for rich pins. Using the Yoast SEO plugin, it’s easy to automatically add the necessary meta data! Here’s how you do it:

1. Go to Plugins > Add New and search for Yoast. Install and activate it as you would any other plugin.

2. With Yoast installed, in your WP Dashboard, go to SEO > Social and click on the Facebook tab (Yes, Facebook, not Pinterest!). (Note: If you do not see the Social Tab, go to Dashboard, then click on the Features tab and enable the Advanced Settings Pages.)

3. Click the button to enable Open Graph meta data.

4. Now that you have the meta data added to your site, you need to tell Pinterest to look for it. Go to the Rich Pins Validator to start the process.

5. Enter a URL from one of your blog posts, then click Validate.

6. If you’ve done everything correctly, your pins will be validated and you will be able to click Apply Now to enable your rich pins. Double-check your domain, choose the HTML Tags option, and click Apply Now. Pinterest typically enables your rich pins within an hour and will email you when your rich pins are live!
